University of London  -  EXTERNAL PROGRAMME

MBA and Postgraduate Diploma in International Management

How to apply

You can apply at any time to join the MBA / Postgraduate Diploma  as applications are processed all year round. Each application is reviewed on a case-by-case basis and acceptance onto the MBA or Postgraduate Diploma in International Management is at the sole discretion of the University Admissions Office. An informal decision as to the eligibility of applicants cannot be given.

No charge is made on application and completion of this process is the only sure way to determine your eligibility to join the programme.

Care should be taken when filling the application form, as this is your first formal contact with the University as a candidate. Assessing applications is more straightforward if all sections of the form are completed accurately with supporting documents clearly referenced.

How to Apply

  1. Download the application form (208 KB;PDF format; New window) and read it carefully together with the information on this page and the page on Entrance Requirements.
  1. Complete the application form and submit it by post, together with the documentation* listed on page 6 of the form, to:

    University of London

    Email: admissions@external.lon.ac.uk

If you cannot send all of the documentation with your application form, then please enclose a letter with the form giving the reasons.

The University is only able to consider applications that have been posted to us. Please do not send your application by fax or by any other means.

    * The Application Form requests that a number of documents be attached. The following information is relevant.
  • GCSE / GCE O level Certification is not required if your Bachelors Degree was studied in the medium of English. A test of proficiency in English (such as TOEFL or IELTS) may however be requested by the University if they deem it to be necessary.

  • Applicants without a good Honours Degree may be required to provide GMAT test certificate in support of their application. Initial applications may however be submitted without the GMAT score. The University may request this score if necessary.

  • Applicants who have not studied recently may arrange for the submission of 2 work-related references, rather than one academic and one work-related reference.

  • Applicants who provide photocopies of their academic and / or professional certificates, rather than originals, are required to have the copies verified by the British Council. (No other verification is acceptable) For British Council addresses worldwide click --- here ---

  1. At the same time, or before you send your application to London, send a referee’s report form to your two referees. Ask them to complete the forms and send them direct to the Postgraduate Admissions Office (address as before).

You can apply for the MBA/ Postgraduate Diploma at any time of year, although the University must receive your application plus all documentary evidence and references in London by:

31 July – if you want to take your first examination in May (of the following year)
    or
31 January – for a first examination in October.

If your application form or documentary evidence/references are received after these dates, the University may not be able to consider your application in time for you to register by the deadline for the next examination. You might have to postpone your first examination until the next sitting.

  1. The University will acknowledge receipt of your application form and send you a student number, to use as a reference whenever you contact the University. Everyone who applies is allocated a number.

You should receive an acknowledgement within three weeks of posting your application, but if you do not please contact the Postgraduate Admissions Office. When you do, please give your full name, the qualification for which you have applied and the date you posted your form to help us identify your application.
  1. Your application will be considered only when the University has received all of your documentary evidence and both references. After due consideration you will be told if your application has been successful or not.

If there is a delay in sending in any of the documentation or your references, the University will have to wait to receive them before the University can begin considering your application. This is because they need to have as much information about you as possible before they can reach a decision.

If your application has been successful, the University will send you:

  • an offer of registration, telling you that your application has been accepted and that you have two years in which to register
  • a fee slip for the registration and course fees
  • a registration form, on which you indicate your choice of courses
  • a copy of the regulations.
  1. To register, complete the registration form and fee slip. Return them, as soon as possible, along with the registration fee and the course fees for the courses you will be taking at your first examination, to:
