Centre for
Financial & Management Studies (CeFiMS) - University of
London
Postgraduate
MSc Financial Economics
Entrance Requirements
For entry to the MSc in Financial Economics you need a recognised
first degree in a quantitative subject such as Economics or
in a related subject that includes some study of Economics.
You should have obtained high grades in your first degree.
If
you do not meet this criteria or you feel your understanding
of economics needs improving, you can upgrade your qualifications
with the Postgraduate
Diploma in Economic Principles. Students who complete this
Postgraduate Diploma with satisfactory grades are then eligible
to enter the MSc
Occasional
students
Applicants may hold the qualifications specified above for
entry to the Postgraduate Diploma or to the MSc degree. Alternatively,
if they do not hold such qualifications, the University may
still consider the application but will require evidence of
the student’s ability to undertake an advanced course of study.
The University may therefore recommend that the applicant first
take two Individual
Professional Courses from those available. If a student
successfully completes the Individual Professional Courses,
their performance will be assessed and they may be invited to
continue with the remaining units of the MSc programme.
All
applicants
To study on any of the distance learning CeFiMS postgraduate
programme, you must be a graduate with a high level of proficiency
in English - equivalent to IELTS level 7.0 (the British Council's
International English Language Testing Service) or an approximate
TOEFL score of 640.
Credit
exemptions
Credit
exemptions are not granted on any of the CeFiMS distance learning
programmes. The only exception is made for those who have obtained
high grades on one or more of the Individual Professional Courses
(IPCs) within the last five years and who then wish to count
the academic credit gained towards an MSc or Diploma programme.
