BSc Politics and International Relations

Message from the Director, LSE External Study.

The academic direction of this degree is undertaken by the London School of Economic and Political Science (LSE).

This degree enables you to combine a study of both Politics and International Relations. How political power is distributed and organised within the state and between states is central to this specialism. International relations is concerned with the behaviour of states and their relations with each other. It considers some of the great issues of international society, such as the causes of war and the conditions of peace.

This degree involves analysing political relationships in their economic and social context and takes into account historical influences on contemporary politics. You will study various types of regime, the institutions of representative and responsible government, the process of politics and the forming and implementation of public policy.

Graduate Entry Route
This provides an opportunity for graduates of any discipline to gain an additional undergraduate degree by following a shorter than normal programme, successfully completing nine full units rather than twelve. This can normally be achieved in a minimum of two years with the exception of the BSc Economics, BSc Development & Economics and the BSc Information Systems & Management.
