Undergraduate
BSc
Development and Economics
Message
from the Director, LSE External Study.
The
academic direction of this degree is undertaken by the London
School of Economics and Political Science (LSE).
This
new degree combines the study of economics with the study of
economic and social development in the North and the South.
It provides a framework within which the key theories that underpin
the development process – economic, sociological and geographical
– can be studied. The main focus is at the scale of the
world’s developing countries although you will have the
opportunity to consider developmental issues at the sub-national
level.
It
provides a thorough grounding in the fundamentals of economics,
sociology and human geography subjects whose literature demonstrates
key links with the process of development. You will have the
opportunity to study aspects of development such as urbanisation
and industrialisation, housing and infrastructure, poverty and
social exclusion, environmental concerns and even issues of
gender.
